College Training Program (Boys)
(U16-U20)
College/university soccer placement is a difficult process but if a player is successful it can be a life-changing experience. Playing college/university soccer often gives players the opportunity to play soccer in a different city or country, experience a new culture and meet new friends.
Orix College Training Program offers players the ability to train and play full-time year round. The program is designed to provide a challenging training and playing environment for youth players aged 15-19 who are seeking opportunities to play at the college/university level. Our objective is to improve the player’s cognitive and tactical abilities and develop them into more effective players who will be able to transition to the next level.
Players train a minimum of 2 times per week in addition to regularly scheduled matches. The program plays matches in competitive men’s leagues ( 11 Aside & Futsal ) which provides the players optimum opportunities to adjust to a faster and more physical level of play in preparation for college/university soccer opportunities.
A special feature of our program is that current collegiate/university players from across the country join our Orix Training participants for training and matches from May 1st to July 31st of each year. This is an invaluable experience and opportunity to train and play with some of the top players in the country and to begin the college/university network building process.
At Orix our relationships with university coaches affords us the ability to provide our players with step by step guidance in the recruitment process. Through these relationships our players have been fortunate enough to receive athletic and academic scholarships from universities in Canada and the United States.
Orix will assist academy players in connecting with the coaches from the schools they are interested in attending and guide them through the process to ensure players are able to effectively market their value to schools they are interested in attending.
This program is recommended for Grade 10, 11, 12 and Gap year players. The program guides players and families through the different stages of the recruitment process including:
- Recruiting rules and calendar
- Selecting the right school
- How to get recruited
- Showcases & ID camps
- Academic Requirements
- Scholarships
- Recruiting videos
- How To Effectively Market Your Value
We work with each player to ensure they have access to the most up to date resources and information to assist them in making the right decisions during the process. In addition to our on field training we believe this personalized step by step guidance is the most effective way for each player to reach their objective of earning a college/university soccer team placement.

Why We Focus On Small Sided Training
Our program trains primarily in small sided formats (Spring/ Summer-mini outdoor fields) (Fall/ Winter-Primarily Indoors). We believe training in smaller formats is the best way for players to accelerate development and reach their potential. Legends such as Messi, Neymar Jr. Ronaldhino, Ronaldo, Kaka, and the Great Pele all played some form of small sided soccer and credit it with supporting their soccer development. Our small sided training format is fast paced and played in a tighter space, therefore players must learn to think and react faster. Orix Small Sided Training Format will help players develop an exceptional first touch, foot speed, balance, agility, coordination, ball mastery, shooting with both feet, situational awareness, accurate and quick passing and receiving.
